2.10.16 - Farmingdale to Establish Transportation and Security Center

"The College was awarded a $6.6 million SUNY2020 grant to establish an Infrastructure and Transportation Security Center (ITSC). The center will hire up to 20 research and teaching faculty over the next five years and create academic programs to explore and transform security on bridges, roads, railways, and in airports and tunnels. The ITSC, which will be contained within the School of Engineering Technology, will also partner with public agencies and private companies. The announcement was made by Lieutenant Governor Kathy Hochul to a campus audience last month. “The new Infrastructure, Transportation and Security Center will be key in ensuring that the security experts of tomorrow are prepared with the best possible resources needed to keep us safe,” Governor Andrew Cuomo said. The competitive grant is being implemented in partnership with Stony Brook University and Nassau Community College."
