Rebecca Coolidge, Legislative Director

Rebecca brings a unique blend of experience in social work, legislative analysis, and policy development to ASA. With a background in various legislative and policy-making roles within the New York State Assembly, she has developed a deep understanding of the political landscape. In these roles, Rebecca worked closely with elected officials across party lines with a focus on creating legislation with a lasting, positive impact.

Her foundation in social work gives Rebecca a strong understanding of the human side of policy issues, allowing her to approach challenges from a compassionate and holistic perspective. She has a particular interest in energy, telecommunications, mental health, and education, and uses her diverse skill set to navigate complex, interdisciplinary issues. In her analysis of legislative proposals, Rebecca is able to quickly engage with a wide range of topics, offering insights that blend technical experience with political strategy.

Rebecca’s expertise in relationship-building and legislative analysis has been key to her success in fostering collaborative and effective legislation. She is well-versed in the legislative process and works effectively with key stakeholders, including elected officials, advocacy groups, and community leaders. Rebecca holds a B.S. in Social Work from SUNY Plattsburgh and an MSW with a Macro concentration from the State University at Albany.
