7.26.20 - UAlbany tops list for equitable enrollment of Black, Latino students
'The University at Albany is a notable outlier in a national study exposing the systemic exclusion of Black and Latino students at the 101 most selective and best-funded public colleges and universities in the United States.'
'The report from the Education Trust called "Segregation Forever?" relies on federal education and U.S. Census data to show that most of these institutions enroll a smaller percentage of Black students today than they did 20 years ago. While enrollment of Latino students has improved, most of these colleges are not keeping pace with Latino population growth in general.'
'Among several exceptions is UAlbany, part of the State University of New York (SUNY) system, which topped the list for enrolling Black students in representative numbers. While 16 percent of New York residents are Black, 17 percent of UAlbany students are Black.'
