7.15.21 - Chancellor Malatras Statement on UAlbany’s $1 Million Grant from National Science Foundation to Create a Culture of Support for Women and Women of Color in STEM
“At SUNY, we have made progress to increase our faculty diversity. But we must do more, especially in the STEM fields. Our 25-point Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion action plan developed this year called for taking meaningful action to ensure our faculty ranks reflect the same diversity that is represented broadly across the student body. I congratulate the University at Albany for winning a $1 million grant from the National Science Foundation to create a culture that supports women and women of color in STEM faculty. Under President Havidán Rodríguez’s leadership and expertise closing equity gaps, this is a huge step forward for SUNY on improving diversity, equity, and inclusion among its faculty. I look forward to the work President Rodríguez and the entire UAlbany team will accomplish.”
