6.01.17 - New York’s electric supply expected to be adequate this summer

"The North Greenbush-based operator of the state's wholesale electricity market expects supplies this summer will be adequate, even though peak demand is projected to be 3 percent above the 10-year average peak."

"The New York Independent System Operator forecasts peak demand will reach 33,178 megawatts, compared to an average 10-year peak demand of 32,215 megawatts. A megawatt of electricity can supply 800 to 1,000 homes."
