5.8.19 - New JPMorgan office tower wins Council approval
'JPMorgan's plans to build a new 1,400-foot office tower on Park Avenue received City Council approval today, following some contention over the amount of public space included in the project.'
'"JP Morgan's plans for 270 Park Avenue exceed the vision for East Midtown Rezoning," local Council Member Keith Powers said in a statement. "This development sets a precedent for what is possible for Midtown. The project fulfills the intention of the rezoning with more jobs and neighborhood improvements."'
'The new tower will replace the company's existing headquarters. Demolition of the current building has already begun, and construction of the new one is expected to begin in January 2021.'
