"New York recently passed statewide ridesharing legislation that allows companies such as Lyft and Uber Technologies Inc. to operate in upstate. Ridesharing has been legal in New York City for some time."

With ridesharing services arriving in communities as soon as this summer, visitors and residents will be able to more easily visit downtown, earn income and stay safe on the road, Lyft officials said."
