This worthy project is opposed by some who argue that Penn Station is so awful that the only course of action is to tear it down and build anew so that New York can right the wrong of destroying the original station in 1963."

"This opposition is misguided. A new Penn requires moving Madison Square Garden, tearing down Two Penn Plaza, and disrupting train service and local streets while a grand new station is constructed from the ground up. This will cost many billions, plus years of delays and reduced service."
