4.21.20 - New York prepares study of Covid-19 racial disparities
'With early data suggesting that black and Hispanic New Yorkers are more likely to die from Covid-19 than their white counterparts, Gov. Andrew Cuomo has ordered state health officials to study the factors behind these disparities.'
'The findings, which are largely consistent with data reported earlier this month, highlight the grim reality of inequities that have long plagued minority and low-income communities due to challenges in accessing quality health care, food and housing, among other things.'
'In response to the city’s data, Cuomo directed SUNY Albany President Havidan Rodriguez, Northwell Health and the state health department to study the coronavirus’ effect on minority communities in early April.'
