11.16.17 - UAlbany taps AIDS researcher to head School of Public Health
"The University at Albany has tapped a Johns Hopkins University chair and AIDS researcher to lead its School of Public Health."
"David R. Holtgrave was named to the position Thursday, and will start in the role March 1. He takes over for Philip Nasca, who retired Jan. 1. Laura Schweitzer, the university's vice president for health sciences, has served as interim dean since then."
"Holtgrave is an endowed professor at Johns Hopkins, and founding chair of the Department of Health, Behavior and Society at the Bloomberg School of Public Health, a position he has held since 2005. But he's perhaps most known for his research in HIV/AIDS. From 1997 to 2001, he led the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's HIV/AIDS research and support division."
