1.11.19 - Fidelis CEO: ‘Business as usual’ following Centene acquisition

'The Rev. Patrick Frawley, CEO of Fidelis, came to the region in early December to open a service center in Niagara Falls. He spoke to Buffalo Business First about what the sale means and what members can expect as the company grows under its new parent. “It doesn’t change at all. The name has remained and all our programs are still in place,” he said. “Their model is extremely local.”'

'While the company has toyed with the idea of going after commercial business, Frawley said there are no plans to go after employer groups. Being part of Centene, however, should provide increased access to more advanced technology systems for data and analytics, which will help the company work with members, providers and the overall community.'

'The company participates in the conversation about how to close the gap with the 5 percent of New Yorkers who remain uninsured, and what role it might play in a proposed single-payer health insurance system for the state.'
