09.24.25 Why are so many big-deal restaurants opening near Penn Station?
To feed an influx of new office tenants, plus straphangers and basketball fans, notable restaurants have arrived in the Penn District. Summer 2025 marked the entrance of the high-flying steakhouse Dynamo Room in Penn 2. The clubby spot from Sunday Hospitality boasts frosty martinis, a roving cart of prime beef cuts and an outrageous French-dip-inspired, off-menu burger with fresh horseradish sauce that’s drenched with prime rib jus when it hits the table.
Meanwhile, the just-opened Limusina on the corner of Ninth Avenue and West 34th Street, is the first Mexican restaurant from hitmakers Quality Branded Group. Chef Craig Koketsu’s menu features dishes such as solteros (platters of individually dressed nachos with lobster and Montauk corn as toppings) and a long-bone short-rib birria—covered in queso and served in rich and spicy beef broth—that’s a TikTok phenomenon waiting to happen.
