Sidewalk cafes might not be the first thing that comes to mind with Penn Station, a hub often overwhelmed by a can’t-miss-my-train stampede of passers-through.
But Vornado Realty Trust, the developer that controls much of its neighborhood, is betting at least some folks will want to kick back at outdoor tables there.
The firm is planning to add seating areas outside of three restaurants on a passageway off West 34th Street once known for “illicit/illegal activities,” according to a new filing. The plans build on earlier efforts to make a destination of the bustling area.
